Chain events let you react to on-chain activity as it happens: new blocks, pending transactions, and contract logs. Whether you are confirming transactions or watching a smart contract, you need a way to capture and interpret these updates.

This section covers two approaches. Subscription APIs (eth_subscribe and chain_subscribeNewHeads) push live notifications to you. Filters (eth_newFilter + eth_getFilterChanges) let you poll for a narrower set of events.
