Join Candidate Pool

Join the peaq validator candidate pool with the joinCandidates staking extrinsic. Check your active set position and confirm your node is authoring blocks.

Request to join the validator pool

Submit the joinCandidates extrinsic from the polkadot.js portal. The minimum stake for a validator is 50,000 $PEAQ.

Developer → Extrinsics → parachainStaking → joinCandidates(stake)

peaq has 18 decimals, so to stake 50,000 tokens you enter 50000000000000000000000.

1. Enter your stake into the stake: u128 (BalanceOf) field.
2. Click Submit Transaction.

Check whether you are in the active set

The active set is the top 42 candidates by total stake. topCandidates holds up to 64 candidates sorted by total stake; the first 42 entries are the active set.

Developer → Chain state → Storage → parachainStaking → topCandidates()

Confirm that your validator account is in the first 42 entries of the result.

Confirm that your node is authoring blocks

Wait two sessions (4800 blocks, about 8 hours at the 6-second target block time; longer when blocks are slower) to see whether your node starts authoring blocks. Check on Subscan that your address started receiving validator rewards.
